Your Personal Brand is an Experience

Forget about selling.  Selling isn’t going to get the attention you want.  Remember, your personal brand is an experience.  Creating a strong personal brand and a positive experience for your clients is what you want to do.

Selling vs. Experience

When you describe your brand is it what you do, or what your clients experience with you?  If the former, I want you to start rethinking how you present your personal brand.

Your brand is not what you do it’s what your clients experience with you.  It’s not just what you do for them, it’s how you make them feel while you are working with them.

The same holds true with reaching your ideal audience.  You are creating a relationship that helps them understand the experience they will have with you.  If you just try to sell what you do, they aren’t going to buy in and may even stop listening.  People want all the feels that help them get to know you, like you and trust you.

Don’t Sell, Engage

It’s time to stop selling and start engaging.  Your brand will be more valuable and more highly respected and accepted.

It is important to recognize that your personal brand is your reputation when you are not around.   What are people saying about you when you aren’t in the room, or on-line for that matter? When your personal brand is built on authenticity and clarity, is concise and consistent, people will have nothing but great things to say about you.   If you sway from being authentic just to get a sale and aren’t creating content that engages with your audience and clients, they may not talk about you at all, or even worse, you risk them saying those not so nice things that you really don’t want them to say.

When you engage with your audience as your authentic self, and remember that your personal brand is an experience, it will sell itself through trust.   No special sales tactics will be necessary.
